In this lesson, we will explore vocabulary and phrases for shopping, ordering food, and dining etiquette. By the end of this lesson, you will be able to engage in practical communication scenarios related to shopping and dining out in Nepali.
- Shopping Vocabulary:
- Pasal (पसल) – Shop
- Kati paisa? (कति पैसा?) – How much does it cost?
- Kinu huncha? (किनु हुन्छ?) – Can I buy this?
- Dherai mahango chha. (धेरै महँगो छ।) – It’s too expensive.
- Sasto chha? (सस्तो छ?) – Is it cheap?
- Ordering Food:
- Kripaya, menu deu. (कृपया, मेनु देऊ।) – Please, give me the menu.
- Ma momo khana ichchhuk chu. (म मोमो खान इच्छुक छु।) – I would like to eat momo.
- Khaja menu ma ke ke chha? (खाजा मेनुमा के के छ?) – What’s on the food menu?
- Thulo coca-cola dinus. (ठूलो कोका-कोला दिनुस्।) – Give me a large Coca-Cola.
- Dining Etiquette:
- Dhanyabad. (धन्यवाद।) – Thank you.
- Kripaya, bhaat dina. (कृपया, भात दिन।) – Please, give rice.
- Tapai ko khana kasto chha? (तपाईंको खाना कस्तो छ?) – How is your food?
- Mitho chha. (मिठो छ।) – It’s delicious.
- Bill dinus. (बिल दिनुस्।) – Give the bill.
Practice Activity:
