Health and Emergencies
In this lesson, we will focus on vocabulary related to health, medical emergencies, and seeking assistance. By the end of this lesson, you will be able to effectively communicate symptoms, seek help during emergencies, and provide necessary information in Nepali.
- Health Vocabulary:
- Swasthya (स्वास्थ्य) – Health
- Rog (रोग) – Illness
- Dawai (दवाई) – Medicine
- Dukh (दुख) – Pain
- Chhaati dukhne (छाती दुख्ने) – Chest pain
- Seer dukhne (सिर दुख्ने) – Headache
- Joro (जोर) – Fever
- Medical Emergencies:
- Sankraman (संक्रमण) – Infection
- Aapatkalin upachar (आपत्कालिन उपचार) – Emergency treatment
- Ghaaw (घाउ) – Injury
- Pran bachaun (प्राण बचाउन) – To save a life
- Chikitsak (चिकित्सक) – Doctor
- Rokne (रोक्ने) – To stop
- Seeking Assistance:
- Sahayog garnu (सहायोग गर्नु) – To help
- Sahayog chahincha. (सहायोग चाहिन्छ।) – Help is needed.
- Aago lagyo! (आगो लाग्यो!) – Fire!
- Ambulance ko avashyakata chha. (एम्बुलेन्सको आवश्यकता छ।) – An ambulance is needed.
- Police lai bulaaunus. (पोलिस लाइ बुलाउनुस्।) – Call the police.
Practice Activity:
- Role-play emergency scenarios with a partner, taking turns being the person seeking help and the responder.
- Practice describing common symptoms of illnesses and injuries in Nepali.
- Create a dialogue between a patient and a doctor, incorporating vocabulary and phrases learned in this lesson.
